Choir Conducting

In rehearsals I care about effective and goal-oriented work. Voice training is very important to me to improve the choral sound continuously and to teach singers a high quality vocal technique. I value accuracy and attention to detail without losing the overall conception of a project and offer helpful advices, exercises and goals to achieve an authentic, pure and true-to-style result.

Due to my wide range of experience in various choral styles I focus on the typical sound character of the particular project. Among other things, I sang in a choral residency in England, attended oratorio rehearsals under Ton Koopman, realised the Stabat Mater by Karl Jenkins with two choirs and orchestra, did an internship at Stadttheater Luzern (Lucerne Opera House) during the production Magic Flute, became familiar with the Nordic and also with the Russian orthodox choral culture and composed, rehearsed and performed a choir piece on comission for the Swiss National Day Celebration of the city of Zurich.

I always strive to support and promote choirs competently and professionally with my positive, open-minded approach and my pedagogical skills. The friendly and respectful treatment of the singers is also very important to me. My creative, fresh but authentic interpretations of the works testify to a solid analysis of the musical material and intensive studies of important sources from the respective period of time.

Education in Choral Conducting, graduated from Lucerne University of Music and Latvian Academy of Music (Riga) under Howard Arman, Pascal Mayer, Franz Schaffner, Māris Sirmais and Markus Zemp.
